I have been waking up at 4AM every day, which is an hour earlier than the 5AM club. Only reason I am up an hour earlier to be able to code and get a work out in. Am I productive every day? No. I am not. I am trying hard to push my self to maximize my time. This is the only time I use to code and work on myself. Outside of this is dedicated to my full-time job of being a husband/dad and working for a non-profit. Does this work feed into those things in my life. Yes. They do. I believe the work I am doing on my side projects are making me a better husband/dad and employee. The perseverance to learn a new skill is teaching my I can do anything. Set education aside. With enough patience and will power, anyone can learn something new. I believe the average person gets comfortable and gets suck into social media (content slot machine) and stops wanting to push themselves.
I have stopped all social media except for YouTube. I am trying to break the habit. I have deleted the app more than I can count. Every night when I am tired I tend to turn on YouTube. Looking for a catchy thumbnail and title to draw me in. Yes, I think it is fine to watch some content. I should really limit myself to just one hour a day watching YouTube/all of social media. If I want to escape then I can read a book or continue to work on my side projects.
I have been working on adding a Shop to this site. The shop contains affiliate links to products I have used and are interested in. I have been curious about dropshipping but don’t want to get sucked down another rabbit hole. I have also been curious about retail but am too risk adverse to purchase inventory in bulk. One day I would like to try some type of cycling retail. Anyways. The Shop hopefully will become a list of products my visitors will review and click on if they are interested. I built it using Chat-GPT and VSCode. I am already thinking about how I can host the product information in a database and call the data via an API to display the content on the Shop. It is quite time consuming to type out (copy/paste) the HTML each time I want to add a new product. Working on a solution like that will give me experience of a database and API. Two things I want to get into.
