Monday, Run Commute! No better way to start the work week off, than with a run commute. I knew my body was going to be sore after hiking 2,000 feet and descending about the same, but I was keen on trying out the the Bolt Sack as seen above. I ended up hobbling my way to work running with both the bolt and my Garmin Forerunner in case the bolt did not record properly. The bolt did record correctly and was super great because I don’t have to connect it to the computer to upload the run. Once it loads to Strava through their Wahoo app, I go into Strava and change the activity type to run. I’m super pumped on how it turned out and can’t wait to use it on a really long run.
The run commute home was a little damp. I had to wait out a torrential rain storm for about 30 minutes to clear enough for me to feel safe enough to run home. It did drizzle a bit so I was completely soaked, but running home was worth it. Beats driving or riding in a car for that distance. 🙂 I did feel a little strain on the bottom of my left foot that stayed with me the entire way. So I’ll take it easy the next couple of days, most likely will bike commute Tuesday and Wednesday to allow for my body to heal after the big day last Saturday. After all the vert on Saturday, I have come to the realization that I need to add more vert into my training each week. I can feel the pump and soreness in my quads and calves, which is a sign to me that they were used a lot and that I will need for them to be stronger if I want to complete the 40 mile AT run with 9,000 feet of elevation gain. I’ll be looking to add more climbs during my runs from now on.
Morning Commute: 3.38 miles | 8:23/mi
