Weekend Review:
Another weekend recap highlighting some of the training and leisure activities that took place.
Friday:
On Friday our neighbor association put on a free community dinner for the residents. The association funds the dinner to say thanks to the residents who are impacted by the festival, which was also this past weekend. The Boss Lady and I ended up walking over to take advantage of the free food and the great atmosphere.
Then around 11:30pm we “snuck” out of the apartment to go and watch the Atlanta Moon Ride riders ride by up the street from us. We had a blast watching everyone. We saw bikes of all kinds, people dressed in funky costumes and bikes lit up like Christmas trees. Maybe next year we will register for it.
Saturday:
Saturday was a fun day. About mid way through the week, after realizing the Boss Lady was going to be away, I committed personally to biking out to Stone Mountain and hiking and then biking back. So, I took off around 7:30am on Saturday and headed to Stone Mountain. On the way out I caught up with a local group ride that was headed the same way, so I hitched a draft and rode with them all the way to the park. At the park I locked up the Trek 400 and slipped my shorts over my Spexcel bike bibs (dumb idea, I figured that out later in the run/hike). From the restrooms at the park I took off up the mountain for first of three times. About halfway through the 6 mile hike I started to chafe really badly. I pushed through it with the bibs and paid for it later with a nice raw spot on my inner thigh. After the third time up, I descended again and jumped on my bike to head home. The ride home was tough as I was drenched in sweat and was getting dehydrated. Made it back by drafting three other bikers that I rode up on. Super thankful for them because I was getting quite tired.

Sunday Funday:
Sunday was super lazy. We just hung around the apartment all day. Sometime during the late morning I broke out my new Singer 4432 and took a stab at sewing “The Bolt Sack“. The Bolt Sack is designed to hold my Wahoo Elemnt Bolt while trail running. I have an older Garmin Forerunner watch that can only record up to 5ish hours. So I came up with the Sack to sit on top of my backpack that I will use during my longer-er runs (+20 miles). I am quite happy with how the first prototype turned out. More to come on the design in a separate post. That pretty much wraps it up for the weekend.
