How to hide the NetSuite logo

I have always thought the NetSuite logo and the header section of the logo was too distracting, so I made a Chrome extension (NetSuite Focus) to hide the NetSuite logo. The Chrome extension does not just hide the logo but it hides the entire top header section the logo sits in. I found I rarely use that section and any of the content in it, unless I need to search for a journal or change my user role which does not happen all that much. NetSuite Focus was designed to allow the NetSuite user to unhide the hidden top section by either pressing the invisible button in the top left-hand corner of the UI, pressing Ctrl + Space or Command + Space.

NetSuite UI before Extension

I actually created the first draft of this extension early in 2023 when the guided learning icon popped up on everyone’s NetSuite account after their system wide update. There was no way to hide the icon so I created a personal extension to hide it. Then weeks later added a way to hide the Oracle NetSuite logo and then hid all the help/feedback logos and links. I also round the search bar and removed the magnifying glass. These edits were easier on my eyes, however, the thought to completely hide the entire section was always there. I just needed the time and will power to sit for 30 mins to get it to work with the help of Chat GPT.

NetSuite UI after Extension

I had the extension working for a little while but did not publish it because I was lazy. Once I published my coupon clipping extension called Coupon Admin, I said might as well publish NetSuite Focus. So, I did and published two Chrome extensions in the same week.

I enjoy using it. We will see if NetSuite users download the extension. I posted NetSuite Focus in the NetSuite subreddit on Reddit, called r/NetSuite. The subreddit has 15,000 members but only 30-50 active users at any given time. Reddit posts do have great SEO if the post is not competing against thousands of the same content. If you search “hide netsuite logo” in Google, the Reddit post ranks number one after the Gemini and image summary. Currently, the Reddit post only has 2 upvotes, shared once and seen by +500 users. I also posted it in the NetSuite Facebook group, NetSuite Users Group. This group has over 12,000 members and seems fairly active. Once my post was approved, it has received 3 likes, 2 comments and 1 share. The extension has been only installed three times since launching it two days ago on Saturday. Maybe this work week more people will find it.

My hope would be ~100 people install and use it on the daily. I think people will shy away from the extension because users don’t know a lot about extensions and sometimes feel uneasy about using them. There seems to be a negative stigma around them. Maybe users will find this post and learn I am not trying to steal their identity or track their chrome history (don’t think that is possible to do with an extension).
