11 Reasons to Wake Up at 4AM 🌄☕

I recently joined the 4AM club. No, I did not join some official morning club. It is a self-motivating personal growth habit I am embarking on. Before you ask. Yes, I did read The 5AM Club by Robin Sharma, but it has been 2 years or so since I listened to the audio book. I did not get much from the book. I was not in the right mindset then. Now I am ready to transform.

It has been about two months since I started waking up at 4AM. You can say it was some sort of New Year’s resolution. I also stopped drinking again, having only picked it up for a week since a two year hiatus, for Christmas break. Continuing on a few other New Year’s resolutions. I decided to stop eating out at work. The food I purchased no matter the restaurant was always terrible. I never enjoyed the experience so I decided it was not worth purchasing anymore. I started 16/8 intermittent fasting a two weeks before Lent started and am currently still fasting for Lent. My schedule is to fast from 7PM to 12PM and only eat two meals a day without any snacks. I do drink black coffee just once around 6-7AM each day and drink decaffeinated tea the rest of the day. I have found the caffeine helps to lessen the hunger effects and the tea throughout the day help to bridge the gap. I am more productive in the morning on top of the normal productivity I have in the morning. I am focused on being active in the morning because if I sit around I want to eat and snack. Lastly, guys from my church have started a 5:30AM Saturday running club. We meet up and run about 3-4 miles and do a few pull-ups and push-ups.

I am working hard to make 2024 my most productive year in the terms of personal growth and accomplishments. I want to continue pushing my ideas through to completion. No matter the outcome, keep completing these ideas because I will continue to learn from each one. I think these goals I have set out for myself will be something I continue past Lent and 2024.

Waking up at 4AM is not for everyone because it depends on your current life situation and personality. Some individuals “think” find they work better in the evening than early in the morning. To each their own. I have found waking up early to be better suited for my current life situation. I am a husband and father of two young children, so this time in the early morning is the only time I can get to myself. Outside of this time I try to be focused (need to try harder) on loving my wife, giving my kids attention, working a day job and working on home improvement projects. So, at the end of the day I am completely exhausted and do not have the energy to work on myself or personal hobbies.
