I have taken the first step to build out another idea I have been toying with by purchasing Oxygen. Oxygen is a visual WordPress site editor. I purchased the Ultimate lifetime access deal for $179. Oxygen is going to allow me to customize the exact site them I need for my idea. I thought about creating the site from the ground up using Django or a similar web framework, but learned about WordPress multi-site and decided to give it a try. If I can get the theme set, I believe I build out everything else using WordPress and plugins. Then I am hoping to use the multi-site feature to create subdomains for each new instance. Somehow copy the pages over to the new instance (site), format it slightly and then hand it over to the customer.
I activated the WordPress multi-site for my new idea and added a new sub-site. When I went to Hostinger to assign the wildcard “*” as a subdomain, Hostinger alerted my an asterisk was an invalid character. So I was only able create the subdomain on Hostinger by adding the full text that I set up in WordPress. This will not be an issue for me because a new multi-site will not be created until a customer signs the contract. This could be an issue for others.
