Run Commute 6/5

Oh, Happy Tuesday!

I was able to wake up early like I planned to do on Monday and run the 6 or so miles. I took off Tuesday morning around 6:30am with only the nature preserve in mind. I wanted to do the loop in the woods on the gravel trail to mix it up. My body felt surprisingly fresh compared to the two mile run the night before. So the run was enjoyable. I was nervous about hitting the nature preserve because a black bear was tranquilized near the college park marta station.ย  Didn’t see any bears.. darn. After the trail it was a direct shot to work.

For the afternoon commute I mixed it up and choose a fairly direct route along a busy street. The street had inconsistent sidewalks (meaning I had to cross the street multiple times to continue my run). Not so safe on a busy street with rush hour traffic. That street will be marked off my mental list of acceptable streets. I finished the run with a 1/2 mile stretch of gravel, pushing the pace and setting a second best time on that segment.

Oh, yeah. I applied the Gold Bond Friction Defense stick before I took off in the morning and it worked wonders. I’ll keep testing it and will give a review after my next 20 mile run.

Pro tip: lay out your shorts and shirt in your cube or office in a discreet way to dry everything out for the run commute home. ๐Ÿ™‚
